Environmental Impact Statement
Pro-Mark Uses Only Non-Endangered Wood
- Hickory and Maple both grow domestically (in the United States) at a rate faster than they are being harvested.
- The harvest of Japanese Shira Kashi White Oak is tightly controlled by the government. We must forecast up to two years in advance as to our anticipated needs.
- Careful calculations are made to assure that each tree yields as many dowels as possible which minimizes waste.
Pro-Mark's "Finishing" Process Is "Green"
- Twenty of our stick models feature the "Natural" (no lacquer) finish. Pro-Mark was the first company to offer this option in the early 1990s.
- Our "Finishing Room" is equipped with a sophisticated filtering system to assure against toxic emissions.
- 100% of the finishing materials are consumed during the finishing process. There is no waste or residue remaining at the completion of the finishing process.
Recyling
- 100% of the sawdust and wood chips generated in the manufacturing process are recycled.
- Recycled materials are used, where possible, throughout the company.
Pro-Mark is always looking at new and more efficient ways to manufacture our products. As always, we welcome ideas and suggestions as to how we can do it better!
